Urban Compassion Project (UCP) supports communities in need by clearing illegally dumped waste, providing mutual aid, and linking homeless individuals to critical services.
We provide support to those in need and clear tons of illegally dumped trash from the streets of Oakland.

Cleanups
In 2025 alone, UCP and 2000+ volunteers, in collaboration with our unhoused neighbors, have removed over 650 tons of trash from our streets. We combine these large-scale cleanups with ongoing maintenance through our Homeless Ambassador Program and partnerships with neighborhoods and local businesses to improve enforcement and prevent future dumping.

Mutual Aid
Every week, we distribute essential items to our unhoused neighbors, including hygiene kits, clothing, shoes, blankets, pillows, and pet food, empowering and supporting the most vulnerable members of our community.
When people’s basic needs are met, they are in a better position to get off the streets and find a fulfilling place in society.

Outreach
In the course of our operations we also conduct outreach, making connections with unhoused people. We learn their stories and develop plans to help them improve their lives by linking them with services such as housing, healthcare, and substance abuse treatment programs.
